Postpartum Care

As postpartum doulas our primary goal is to offer new mothers support and encouragement while they recover from childbirth. We provide in home care for mothers and their babies with a quiet presence and gentle wisdom. As mothers ourselves we understand the needs and concerns you may be feeling. By offering emotional as well as practical support we hope to help families maintain a sense of balance and peace. We are happy to come for a free in home interview.

Our Services

Encouraging and teaching parents how to care for their newborn. Including bathing, nail clipping, calming techniques, encouraging good sleep patterns and helping parents learn to interpret their babies cues

In home breastfeeding consultation, support, and information on community resources

Light housekeeping including laundry, dishes, grocery shopping and meal preparation.

Recommendations for infant products that make life with baby easier. Resources for specialty items for multiples and special needs.

Running Errands or accompanying mothers on first outings or doctors visits.

Encouraging new mothers to take care of themselves, to rest and be renewed by taking a nap or a hot shower. We want to pamper you by making you breakfast or lunch, bringing you something to drink while you nurse, preparing dinner for your family.

The most important part of our service is being a friend that you can talk to. Our main goal is to help you gain confidence in yourself as a parent.

Our doulas are specially trained in all aspects of infant care. We have experience with multiples, premature babies as well as infants with sever colic/acid reflux. All San Antonio Doulas are certified in infant CPR/First Aid. Published research has shown that the incidence of postpartum depression is greatly reduced with the help of a postpartum doula. Many times breastfeeding issues can be easily resolved when a mother has in-home support from a doula experienced in breastfeeding.

Rates

Daytime Postpartum Care: $15 hr (4 hr mimimum)

Includes help with breastfeeding, laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation, general care of mother & baby.

Night Care: $22 hr (singles), $25 hr (twins), $30 hr (triplets)

Minimum eight hour shifts from either 10pm to 6am or 11pm to 7am. Provides exhausted parents a chance to get a full nights sleep.

Newborn Consultation

Hello Baby: This is a two hour class in the comfort of your home. Includes how to activate your baby' calming reflex, happiest baby on the block soothing techniques, extensive feeding/sleeping information, how to help mom get extra sleep, product recommendations to make life easier, how to begin sleep training your newborn. This is a personalized class and can be tailored to address any special needs you might have.

Reflux Care Class

This class covers how to prepare your home environment to keep your reflux baby comfortable, soothing strategies for fussy babies, feeding strategies to minimize your babies reflux.

Baby Registry Consultation

Many parents are overwhelmed with the choices when choosing their baby registry. This is a two hour consultation done at the store of your choosing. We will help you make this a fun and painless process and ensure that you are registered for the important items that will make life with a newborn a little easier.

From the last month of pregnancy until the day we brought our daughter home, Carol was there for our family. She educated us on the importance of a schedule, she helped us establish a nap and bedtime routine, she answered our numerous questions about breastfeeding, and most importantly she helped us care for our daughter. When our daughter was born, she was smaller than expected which caused issues with breastfeeding. With Carol's knowledge and support, she helped us to overcome the issues.
