In Home Breastfeeding Consultations
At San Antonio Doula Service we believe that most mothers who are experiencing breastfeeding difficulties can be helped by a comprehensive in home breastfeeding consultation. It is much more comfortable for mother and baby to stay in the comfort of their own home and receive help from an experienced doula. We will do a comprehensive evaluation and observe you as you feed your baby. This will allow us to look at the big picture of what may be causing difficulties. We are not lactation consultants, but are mothers who have breastfed our own children and have had special training regarding all aspects of breastfeeding. Based on our evaluation we can make recommendations to improve your chances for breastfeeding successfully. If the problem is especially difficult we can give you referrals for community resources. We have experience with many different breastfeeding issues including; low supply, sore nipples, engorgement, breastfeeding multiples, mastitis, nursing & maintaining supply for a premature baby, lazy nursers, as well as much more. In many cases having the extra support and encouragement of a doula who will sit beside you and teach you can give you the breastfeeding experience you were hoping for.
